SERVE India

Dear E-pray friends,
Greetings! These autumn days are SO beautiful around here! I hope you all are having a chance to enjoy them before the real cold comes!

I talked to John this week and there are not many updates except for the work on the land. It is always a challenge to finish land deals in India!! The latest adventure since he has been there is that some people forged up a fraudulent land deed and sold a portion of our land to an innocent buyer. The buyer then put up barrier posts to prevent people from accessing ‘his’ land, and without knowing it blocked John inside! John was there working on getting the area ready for the surveyor and was surprised to find himself not able to drive out when he was ready to leave! He was able to get help from workers nearby to remove the barriers so he could go home!
The buyer was shocked to see with John’s real papers that he had been scammed! This week John submitted some paperwork to the court so he could continue to work and sell the land while the other poor guy gets his case all figured out. Hopefully the surveyor will be able to get his survey done this week and things can move forward! Please pray for no more surprise delays or any kind of delays and that all can move forward smoothly and successfully. Thank you!

Once the land deal is settled then, as I wrote last month, John will be spending much of his time getting the teacher training school paperwork finished and renovations completed so that the inspector can come and move us through to the next step. Hopefully, the whole process will be able to be completed to open the school by this next summer (2013). Please continue to pray for all of the work that needs to be done for the teacher training school, including the hiring of good staff.

I wanted to ask you for one more prayer request for me this month as I attend our mission board’s conference. I will be meeting a lot of the other missionaries who are working with IGO from all over the world and I am really looking forward to this! We are sad that John will have to miss this year, but maybe next time it will work for us both to be there. Please pray as I prepare and present our SERVE India report and that the Lord will be glorified by the time we all spend together.
